The story
Arroz con pato is the signature dish of Chiclayo and the wider Lambayeque region on Peru's northern coast. Ducks had been raised there since the days of the Moche and Chimú cultures, and when rice arrived the two made a natural match. By the 19th century, family kitchens in Chiclayo province were cooking what was then called pato con arroz a la chiclayana: duck marinated with garlic, vinegar and chilli, served on rice turned green with coriander and splashed with chicha de jora or dark beer. Lambayeque town and Ferreñafe share the tradition, and Trujillo, further south, makes its own version.

In Meridish, every dish is pinned to the town or city most widely credited with creating it. A guess within 25 km scores all 100 points. How scoring works.
