How it works
Three steps a course, seven courses a day
-
1
Meet the dish
Each course comes with a photo and a short clue about the place it comes from.
-
2
Tap where it was born
Pinch to zoom and tap the spot. A card names the place before you serve your guess.
-
3
See how close you got
Up to 100 points a course, 700 a menu. Then see where the dish really comes from, and how your guess compares with everyone else's.
Scoring
Every course gets a verdict
Land within 25 km of a dish's hometown for a perfect plate. Points fall away with distance, gently at first. See the full scoring.
Your bill
Share your score, not the answers
When you finish, Meridish hands you the bill: your total, your verdicts, the share of today's players you beat, and a card to share. The emoji line tells friends how you did without giving away a single hometown.

Questions
A food game for curious eaters
What is Meridish?
Meridish is a free daily food geography game. Every day, everyone gets the same seven-course tasting menu, from an aperitif to dessert. For each dish you tap the map where you think it was born, and you score up to 100 points for how close you land to its hometown.
Is Meridish like Wordle?
In spirit, yes: one puzzle a day, the same for everyone, and an emoji line to share that never gives the answers away. Instead of guessing a word, you place seven dishes on a world map, so it plays more like a food version of GeoGuessr.
Is it free? Do I need an account or an app?
It's free, with no account and nothing to download. Meridish plays in any web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Apps for iPhone and Android are on the way.
How long does a game take?
About three minutes for the whole menu. There's no clock, so you can take as long as you like over every course.
What kind of dishes are on the menu?
Over 200 dishes and drinks from more than 60 countries: street food, soups, noodles, curries, cocktails, teas and desserts. Each one is pinned to the town or city most widely credited with creating it, and the clue mentions rival claims where there's room. Dishes from past menus, with their hometowns and stories, are in Where dishes were born.
When does a new menu come out?
Every day at midnight UTC, the same moment for everyone in the world. That's midnight UTC where you are.
